The name is the philosophy
Merritt and Grey are middle names. They belong to Neil Sniffen's two sons.
When Neil went looking for a name for this practice, he was circling the ideas the work is built on — belief, growth, intention — and couldn't put a name to them. The epiphany was closer to home: raising children is done with growth and intention. And terror, anxiety, fear, joy, hope, and every other human emotion.
He asked his wife and his kids if the name was okay and if it sounded good when they heard it spoken aloud. They liked it.
So there it is
What we believe
Marketing with intention starts with a simple conviction: the person on the other end—the customer, the user, the visitor—belongs at the center of the experience. Not the funnel. Not the channel plan. The person.
Put them there and keep them there, and the business outcomes follow. Trust converts better than pressure. Clarity outperforms noise. A customer who feels understood comes back and brings the numbers with them.
That's why we partner with organizations that care about their customers, their communities, and the world. Intention isn't a constraint on growth. It's where growth comes from.
Who are we
Merritt Grey is led by Neil Sniffen: fifteen years of marketing and digital strategy leadership across agencies and brands, from healthcare and B2B SaaS to a multi-billion-dollar environmental science company, and co-author of Stop Marketing, Start Selling.
Before marketing, Neil guided whitewater rivers for eleven seasons and taught high school English and journalism.
The settings have changed but the work never has: read the conditions, keep people steady through the loud parts, and get everyone downstream better off than they started.
